Clippers Season Comes to an End at the NWAACC Tournament (03/03/08)

The Clippers opened the Tournament against Clackamas the defending NWAACC champions. The Clippers were ahead at half time 41 to 39 and seemed to be ready for an upset victory. At the beginning of the second half the net on the hoop fell off ?! After a 15 minute delay the game restarted, but after the Clippers second basket, the net started to come down again. The Clippers seemed to lose energy, during the delays in this strange game. When the final buzzer sounded, it was after mid-night, and the Clippers were on the losing end 93 to71. The Clippers had five players in double figures including 15 points by Jonny Saryaz all of them coming from the 3 point line.

The second game of the Tournament the Clippers faced the Everett Trojans. The Clippers well balanced attack wasn’t enough as once again they fell short of a victory, losing a tough battle 92 to 86. Six Clippers scored in double figures. Jonny Saryaz had five three pointers and finished with 19 points. Michael Brumsey had 14 points to go along with his 13 rebounds. Chris Scott ended his career at South Puget Sound with another excellent game; he finished 15 points 11assists and 2 steals. Nigel Moore contributed 17 points and 8 rebounds.

They were ahead by 17 points with 5 minutes to go when Chris Scott, the do every thing point guard for the Clippers fouled out. It was a tough final five minutes without the Clippers leader on the court, but Gerad Moser made solid play making decisions when it counted, and the Clippers won 96 to 88.

Michael Derosier, arguably the best 6th man in the entire NWAACC, scored 24 points had 5 assists and 2 steals. Nigel Moore contributed a double double with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
