Welcome to International Student Services at South Puget Sound Community College!

We are home to over 100 international students from 15 different countries. Over the years, we've created a comfortable atmosphere and a welcoming environment for our international students, making this college their home away from home. Because of the small number of international students, the International Student Services is able to address the needs of each student and give them individualized attention. From the time you first inquire about studying with us until graduation, we are always here to guide you. International Student Services include, but are not limited to:

New Student Orientation: This is your first time at a U.S. college or maybe even your first time in the county and it's easy to feel confused and disoriented. The orientation will introduce you to the basic information on many topics: college life, immigration, medical insurance, finances, etc. An experienced international student, peer-mentor, will help you to become familiarized with the area and the college.

Academic Orientation: An in-depth look into the U.S. Higher Education system, degree selection and planning, graduation requirements, University transfer and many other topics.

University Transfer Assistance: Everything students need to know to successfully transfer to a university of choice. Individual appointments are strongly encouraged.

Academic Advising: This is an on-going service available to students at all times. Because of the individualized nature of the university transfer process, students will an advisor from the beginning of their studies until they graduate.

Immigration Advising: We have a full-time immigration and SEVIS specialist who will answer any questions and provide guidance.

Employment Workshop: Getting ready to graduate and feeling nervous about securing employment with a U.S. company? The workshop will teach your skills to search for jobs, to write an effective resume and to make a good impression during the interview.

Personal Assistance and Counseling: Whether you are applying for a Social Security Card, a driver's license, or any other personal matters, the office will help you with the process.

Activities: International students participate in a number of on and off campus activities organized by the International Student Association, a club on campus. Some of their activities are multi-day trip to Canada, ice-skating, skiing, attending concerts, baseball games and many other activities.
