What are your personal goals for the year?

My goal for this year is to improve communication between students and the senate.

Why did you get involved with the Student Senate?

I spent four years attending a large University back in the 90s. My routine was to attend classes, then go home or to my full-time job. This time around, I am extremely fortunate to have the time to participate in extracurricular activities, and I’m determined to not waste such an opportunity. My initial interest in Student Senate was sparked by their need for a new V.P. for Administration and Finance. I’ve always loved working with numbers, so I applied. Now that I’m in this position and have had the chance to interact with the other members, being on Student Senate means so much more than budgets or spreadsheets.

What are your plans once you graduate from SPSCC?

Once I have my ATA in Accounting, I hope to become employed with the State of Washington as an auditor while I work on getting my CPA license. My plan is to then move into the field of forensic accounting as soon as possible, because I’m getting old.

Personal Info

My full name is David Nephi Hurt. I am 37 years old and live with the world’s laziest cat, Carter. I’ve been in Washington since 2002 and hope to never leave this beautiful place. I see life as a learning experience, and I’ve finally caught on that it really is about the journey and not the destination. Life doesn’t belong on hold.
